Pablo Mariz Emerges Victorious from 2017 WSOP $1,500 Millionaire Maker Event

Canadian poker player Pablo Mariz became one of the 2017 WSOP gold bracelet winners after taking down the annual Millionaire Maker event. This is the first WSOP bracelet in the 27-year-old player’s career so far, not to mention the fact that he took home a massive cash prize that made him a millionaire.

So far, the prize of $1,221,407 is the biggest cash portion ever won by the Canadian in his career as a poke player. Pablo Mariz’ total live winnings are currently estimated to a total of $1,310,867. In addition, when added to his runner-up position in the WSOP $1,500 Tag Team NLHE, the victory of Mariz makes him the unofficial leader of the WSOP’s Kings Casino Rozvadov Player of the Year competition for the time being. Up to date, the Canadian has previous career WSOP winnings estimated to $64,300.

The WSOP $1,500 buy-in Millionaire Maker event has been one of the most popular ones among players since its official introduction in 2013. This year, the event accumulated a players field of 7,759 entries, all of whom Mariz managed to overcome in order to lay his hands on the prize and become the World Series of Poker’s newest millionaire. The total prize pool accumulated amounted to $10,477,350.

For him, this was a life-changing victory, which also made Mariz change his plans for the tournament. At first, he has made a booking for the series’ two weeks only. Then, he extended his stay after emerging on the second place at the $1,500 Tag Team NLHE event and now, with his bankroll being boosted, the Canadian has made some plans for staying until the end of this year’s edition of the World Series of Poker.

Apart from outlasting the massive players field, the young Canadian poker player also faced a fierce heads-up battle, which thankfully for him, did not take long. At an earlier stage of the event, Mariz was one of the players with shorter stacks, but he managed to get the chip lead and hold it for most of the Day 4.

At the beginning of Day 4, there were only 14 players left out of 7,759. A bit later, only 9 of them proceeded to the event’s final table which featured a fast-paced games and heated competition.

With Pablo Mariz emerging as winner, taking home a cash prize of $1,221,407, his major opponent D.J. Alexander occupied the runner-up position, getting a consolation prize of $754,499. Unfortunately for him, Alexander failed to add a WSOP bracelet to his WSOP Circuit ring won at the tournament’s Harrah’s New Orleans stop over its 2015/2016 edition. The third place in the final table’s ranking was taken by Alex Farahi for a guaranteed prize pool cash portion estimated to $561,530.

Marc MacDonnell remained fourth, followed by Bryce Yockey. Yuriy Boyko ranked sixth, while the seventh place was taken by Jonathan Gray. The eighth and ninth position were occupied by Thiago Grigoletti and Hector Martin, respectively.
